In 1998, Mary Woods received a telephone call at her San Diego home from a friend. Her friend had broken a hip and the doctor wouldn’t allow her to come home from the hospital unless she could find someone to assist and be at home with her. The friend wanted to know if Mary knew of anyone who could help her several hours a day during her recovery. Mary sent one of her four daughters, who ended up assisting and working for the friend for several months.
The word traveled fast that Mary knew people who went into people’s homes and provided the much needed care that they required. Mary was surprised, because in her mind she was just being a good friend by helping a friend in need.
Mary recognized how great the need was for quality homecare and began what is now ABC Always Better Care. What started quite by accident became a thriving business. Mary ran the business for ten years until her passing in 2009.
Today, ABC Always Better Care is co-owned and managed by Mary’s three daughters, Terry Woods, Jennifer Woods and Martha Lewis.
